Since we left off, remote employment is now firmly a part of life. In fact, according to a recent New York Times article, approximately 50 million people left their offices when the pandemic first hit. Among white collar workers, 65% were working from home in May 2020 – that’s up from just 6% just prior to any of us hearing the word “COVID.”
If you’re an employer who fancies face time, you’re not alone … yet. There are multiple reasons why adult human beings will not return to your office 5 days a week, 8 hours a day after recapturing lost time spent showering, commuting and chatting about the weather. Oh, and that’s just Monday through Friday. Employees who now throw in a load of wash or take a quick 8 am run to the grocery store on a Tuesday (that’s me!) find themselves with more time on Saturdays and Sundays to truly relax. Sunday really can be a fun day, rather than laundry day.
So, here we are. Our employees are our best, most valuable commodities, and they are not merely hoping to continue to work from home. They’re expecting to work from home. How can you meet their expectations while meeting your goals? Hopefully, this blog will help convince you that the former always assists the latter.
